Cory Allen [b. 1982] is an avant-garde composer and producer living in Austin. His highly-produced and often subtle work focuses on the manipulation of human perception through stereo-field vibration and the utilization of a frequency spectrum that exceeds the limit of human hearing. Allen implements self-organizing structures, physical sound models, set pitch classes, computer algorithms, processed electronic sounds, complex sine tones, acoustic instruments, and raw CPU data with which he actualizes eloquent sonic architectures diffused with precise aural artifacts. Allen co-owns and operates Quiet Design Records on which he has curated and produced releases featuring artists such as Tetuzi Akiyama, Jandek, Keith Rowe, Sebastien Roux, Erdem Helvacioglu, Duane Pitre, Yoshio Machida, Kim Myhr, and more. Quiet Design has released works by over 30 artists in 10 countries and has celebrated international press including a full-page feature in Wire Magazine. Cory's work has been broadcast across the globe and featured by the American Music Center, WDR3, Australia’s ABC Radio National, Wire Magazine, Alarm Press, Tokafi, and numerous others. Allen has published audio on Quiet Design Records, Bremsstrahlung Recordings, Con-V, Test Tube, and Voodoo Rhythm. His work has been presented at the Austin Museum of Art, MTV's Logo, SXSW Film Festival, Frameline [San Fransisco], Houston Museum of Fine Arts, CinemaTexas, only to name a few.
